British Firework Championships

The dates have been revealed for the 2017 British Firework Championships in Plymouth.

Plymouth will be hosting the extravaganza yet again next year, with thousands yet again set to flock to the Hoe.

The 2017 championships will be the 21st annual contest

Plymouth Armed Forces Day

Don’t miss Armed Forces Day on the 24th June from 09:30 to 22:30

A spectacular and exciting day of entertainment, with air displays, parades, demonstrations, competitions and activities for the whole family.

During the event the Royal Navy, Army, RAF, Royal Marines and veteran’s organisations, charities and the emergency services will showcase their services in a variety of ‘villages’ set out across the Hoe. It is expected that over 120 exhibitors including two static helicopters will be on display with static and interactive activities.

The day is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come along and show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to reservists, veterans, cadets and their families.

The Rolex Fastnet Race

The biennial Rolex Fastnet Race starts at noon on Sunday after Cowes Week, with the yachts heading for the Fastnet rock off the Irish coast before finishing in Plymouth.

This race is on every sailor’s bucket list, and for good reason, as it challenges the mental and physical abilities of crews and the technical abilities of yachts. To complete this race is an achievement in itself!

With the 2017 increasing the upper limit on boat lengths to over 100ft, the start promises to be spectacular! Furthermore, the Volvo Ocean Race has announced that all 9 teams will complete the 2017 Rolex Fastnet Race as part of a Pre-VOR series.
